The Florida Homebuilders Association is asking the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to take a first step toward possibly removing the wood stork from the federal endangered species list. In a petition filed today, property rights advocacy group Pacific Legal Foundation says the wood stork should be reclassified from endangered status to only threatened.

FWC rescinds special regulations for Everglades wildlife management areas

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has rescinded, effective immediately, the special regulations adopted earlier this month because of drought conditions. Recent rainfall has increased water levels at Everglades wildlife management areas, making the special regulations no longer necessary.
