August wet but not enough, officials say
Another dry month may have Collier and Lee county officials singing “rain, rain, come our way.” The National Weather Service in Miami on Monday reported a total of 6.20 inches of rainfall at Naples Municipal Airport in July. That’s down 1.57 inches from normal August rainfall numbers. Those numbers may be a bit deceiving, said Robert Molleda, a warning coordination meteorologist in Miami. Some parts of the county — particularly inland Collier County — have received above average rainfall in August.
