Work about to begin on $53M Everglades restoration project
Schoolchildren tossed shovelfuls of dirt to mark the ceremonial groundbreaking for an Everglades restoration project at Picayune Strand State Forest. Now the real work is set to get underway in about 30 days, project managers said Friday. The $53 million job will bring scores of workers and heavy equipment — and big changes — to what is now a quiet corner of rural Collier County.
